  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 3/4 cups Pillsbury BEST™ All Purpose Flour
  • 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup canned pure pumpkin
  • 3 tablespoons Crisco® Baking Sticks Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening
  • OR Crisco® Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening
  • 3 egg whites
  • Crisco® Original No-Stick Cooking Spray
  • Hungry Jack® Original Syrup
Preparation Directions
  • Step 1Whisk buttermilk and baking soda in medium bowl to mix well. Set aside. Stir together flour, brown sugar, pumpkin pie spice, baking powder and salt in medium bowl until blended.
  • Step 2Beat 2 egg yolks, buttermilk mixture, pumpkin and melted shortening in large bowl until blended. Gradually stir in flour mixture, stirring just until blended.
  • Step 3Beat 3 egg whites in medium bowl with electric mixer on high speed until soft peaks form. Fold into waffle batter.
  • Step 4Coat waffle iron with no-stick cooking spray and heat to medium temperature. Pour 1/2 cup batter onto waffle iron. Cook 3 to 4 minutes according to manufacturer's directions or until golden brown. Remove from waffle iron. Repeat to cook remaining waffles. Serve with syrup.
